April Mystery Photo Answer:

My guess is that it was the spring of 1944.
The Newspaper was looking for a photo of a Boy Scout and a Girl Scout to lead an article for the Sunday issue of the Duluth News Tribune featuring Spring Clean-up.

Yes that is Phyllis and Me raking up the back yard at 2313 West 11
Street the house that the Lilyquist family was raised in.
This was home; Mom always had a beautiful garden full of her favorite flowers,
a large Norway (of course) pine tree, and a well-manicured lawn that was
Dad’s responsibility. It is great that all the grand kids had the
opportunity to enjoy the yard, the home, the good food,
and the love that was ever present in that home.

We may miss it but we will always remember the Saturday Coffee,
the Holiday activities, the Birthday Parties, and even a couple of weddings.

When the opportunity to pose for this clean-up photo came, we were
happy to do it because we had such a great family.
Clean-up 1944 and were proud share it with others. Don Lilyquist
