Karen & Dwight Esau
Karen and I met in church - Baptist Church in Duluth, January, 1963
(I forgot date). It was a Sunday, and I was talking with a group of people
after services - I had been assigned by the News-Tribune to write articles
on the church's expansion plans.
She was attending youth activities at the church with some fellow nurses in her class.
It was the church Karen's dad, Allen, was baptized in years before.
By the same pastor who baptized me in Minnespolis years later. It took me a few
weeks to ask Karen out. First date: Movie Mutiny on the Bounty,
with Marlon Brando, after dinner at HolidayI nn restaurant on waterfront./x-tad-smaller>/smaller>

Dorothy & Norman Hallsten

Dorothy was 19 when she was working at her
Aunt Tillis Cafe down on 1st street - Duluth.
She met Norman working one afternoon,
and at the time Norman was working for Firestone.
Norman took Dorothy home after she was done with work
that same day, and that's where they had their first kiss
when he dropped her off at home!
In October of that same year, Dorothy invited Norman
over for dinner and her mothers birthday...
When Norman tasted Segrids food -
He decided he would never leave!!
Dorothy and Norman were married 1 1/2 later.
