Sydney Jean Taylor was born on Dec. 3, 2007 at 7:58 am, via a scheduled
c-section. She was 8 pounds, 14.5 ounces, and 20 inches long. They all
said she was so big, but when your first child is 9 pounds, 10 ounces,
that just seems so small! Elisabeth is in love with her new baby
sister (at the moment), and is proud to be a big sister. We are so
blessed to have two beautiful daughters now!

A New Hobby! David Hallsten
Aluminum Pouring Deer, the foam hand carved model’s go into the 5 gallon bucket of lake superior sand just as they are shown and the top end of the candy shaped foam just sticks out the top of the sand a little bit. then you just pour the melted aluminum right into the sticking out foam. The high temp of the melt turns the foam to gas and other stinky stuff so its only a few pieces black stuff in the sand. The two little deer are are prior cast aluminum, bead blasted and that's the finished product in the photos.

Dumb but fun !

Surgery! Dan Shire

Had Gallbladder surgery in October. It was after Grandma Margaret’s
ceremony, we went to a restaurant afterwards for lunch, that night I
was deathly ill, so I thought it was food poisoning... Turns out it
was my gallbladder.

Busy with work! Karen Lilyquist

I have keeping myself way too busy. I own a home care business with 2
friends (started about a year ago) and I am doing the RN work, the
staffing, the training, some marketing, etc.... I am teaching for the
University of Phoenix (on-line). I am a mentor for doctoral students -
and that is just a lot of paperwork. I love it, but I spend most of my
free time in front of the computer these days! At least through
mid-December. And, then, I am working 8 hours as a dietitian at a
facility about 12 miles from my house. Yikes! It is all fun, but I am
looking forward to having a day all to myself and time away from my
students over the winter break.

Christmas greetings from Park Point!

This has been a pretty quiet year for us.
We made a trip to Boston in October to visit some special friends and celebrate Jerry's birthday. We had a wonderful time.
The whole family made a trip to Chicago for a wedding. We made it an extended weekend and had a lot of fun. It's great to travel with adult children.
We also had our first annual Hage Family Reunion in Hayward Wisconsin. It was a successful event. The Lilyquists (Jerry's Mom's family) had their first reunion also. It was held in Duluth. It was good to see family we hadn't seen in many years.
Jerry and I are both working doing our same jobs as last year. We keep plugging along.
Jerry is working on a “work/sound/safe haven” for himself in our new garage. We built it with the plan that “someone” would be able to put in a room for special hobbies and it's working out perfect for him. It will be a great space and open up the area in our old attached garage to make addition house space. We are still both adjusting to the smaller quarters we have and trying to take something out when we bring something else in.
Jerimy and Dawn are doing well.
Dawn got a teaching job at Barnum Elementary school teaching reading and math to 4th and 6th graders. She loves her work.
Jerimy had a promotion at his job also and supervises 2 homes with disabled people. He does a great job with them.
This is Kell's year to work on tenure at Lake Superior College. We have no doubt that she will get it, but until that time, she feels some stress about it.
We lost our first Grand dog less than a month ago. Tilly got cancer and had to be put down. She was 7 ½ years old. This was a very sad event and we miss her.
So in rereading this, it looks like we did have some memorable events this year after all!

We hope you have a wonderful and peaceful Christmas. Hope to hear from you this coming year!

Love,
Mary and Jerry Hallsten
